In most cases, your only option is to place a straight up bet. This means that you place your chip(s) on the green 0 section on the roulette board and only receive a payout from the dealer if the ball lands in the green pocket.

If you are playing American Roulette, then you will also have the option to place a split bet. This means that you are betting on both green spots at the same time. You can place a split bet on green by placing your chip(s) on the line between 0 and 00 on the roulette board. In American Roulette, the odds of the ball landing on green are 36:1, which reflects the likelihood of the ball landing in this space. This means that if you correctly placed a bet of 10 chips, you’d receive 360 chips (or the equivalent) in return.

European Roulette.

In European Roulette, the odds of the ball landing on green are 35:1. This is because a European Roulette wheel (and, by extension, the board) does not contain a secondary green section. This means that if you correctly place a bet of 10 chips on green, you’d receive 350 chips in return.

Impact of Landing on Green

As mentioned above, there’s a certain level of risk associated with placing a bet on green. This is because the chances of landing on green are significantly lower when compared to other types of bets. For example, if you were placing an outside bet in red/black or odd/even numbers, the odds are 1:1 vs 35:1 or 36:1.

However, this may be the very reason why bidding on green is advisable, as you’ll receive a considerably higher payout should fate work in your favor.
